A Little bit of Local things – Bainbridge Island Day Trip

Its your road, and yours alone. Others may walk with you, but no one can walk it for you. – Rumi

My capture of this island was minimal but still an experience making you want to return. After contemplation if I wanted to come here or not before summer ended lingered for a while but I am glad I was able to finally make it. Ive been to many small islands around Washington state but Bainbridge Island, which literally sits just 10 miles across the Puget Sound waters. I now live southeast of here so I was able to drive through Narrows Bridge which is an awesome peaceful drive despite the spiking toll bridge fee back home. Had a quick but wonderful day of bits and pieces of the island.

Fay Bainbridge Beach Park

I spent most of my time on the downtown strip just window shopping, exploring the art museum and a bit at the beach towards the end. I felt I did not soaked it it enough as I started my day later so it was a bit disappointing but overall still had a wonderful time! The town really showcases its artistic side. Also visited the art museum in which you can find my vlog clip here. It showcases local artists year round. Instead of posting pics, I filmed it this time. —> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aaAOANQuSs

Its an island I would return to annually. The winery farms that surround this island was a favorite although I did not plan for any but it is on the next itinerary. But here is a list of things that one can enjoy while there. There are alot of private road locks of beach access for locals. Since the island is surrounded by water, it is a watersport enthusiast escape for sure. It is also very family friendly with plenty of parks and things to explore with your kids.

Memoires in Gig Harbor: Lavender Farm & Narrows Park Beach scene

“Never be in a hurry; do everything quietly and in a calm spirit. Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever, even if your whole world seems upset.” —Saint Francis de Sales

The weekend was spent well in Gig Harbor, a bay city just 30 minutes away by crossing the Narrows Bridge from mainland into the gateway. Neatly tucked in south of Seattle, it is a small town that provides lots of greenery, great beaches with the view of Mt Rainier and the cities landscape around it. The day trip was a good one as it was not too busy but still had things to do and see.

We landed at the Crescent Valley Lavender Farm, https://www.crescentvalleylavenderfarm.com/ a family owned mini lavender farm in town. Season was ending within 2 weeks and I was glad we were able to find it. It was not busy and easy to find. Its a new farm and we met the owner as he did a quick tour of what was on their farm. He was very nice and informative. There are 7 different lavender types he planted in which, I was not even aware of such difference. I primarily picked the white lavender for tea and baking. The smell was citrus. The purple lavender were a bit sweeter in smell and would work well in cooking or decoration. I got a bit of both. I do recommend for those sensitive to weather, and maybe bugs; bumble bees. The bumble bees are harmless. Smell is also not strong while there in case you have allergies. There is a bit of bending to cut your own lavender but the awesome part is the provide baskets, scissors and rubber hands. And lastly, prepare for the heat if you go on a hot day like we did. But the crowd and its location was very serene. And its a great activity to do with friends and family. I took my mom this day and she enjoyed it.

After a bit of time inland of the town, we decided to stroll towards the water and it wasn’t too far off as the town is surrounded by water all around. It was definitely a beautiful town and I wished I had taken more photos off the roads and around the downtown strip. Lots of yacht boats, dining and mini boutiques on this great day.

I definitely plan to go back for dinner here and hang out along the pier. Such a cute little town away but not too far to travel too.
